Omega 6s! Omega 3s! And what they should mean to you

If you’re reading this, there’s no way you haven’t heard about the omega siblings before. These are great fatty acids that do wonderful things for you body, like the ever-important support of your brain health! Omega 3s are great but your body can’t make them, so you HAVE to get them through your diet. It’s the same thing with Omega 6s... but the typical (American) diet has an extreme imbalance favoring omega 6s. It’s important to balance the omegas in order to have an optimally functioning system. What happens when you have too much omega 6 and not enough omega 3? Omega 6 controls inflammation in the body, a little inflammation can be good for healing. Omega 3 controls the anti inflammation in the body. See where this is heading? Without omega 3s to reign in the omega 6 inflammation, you can end up with bodywide inflammation when the cells do not need to (and shouldn’t) be inflamed! The high doses of omega-6s in oils can also bond with oxygen, remember what happens when we have these oxidizing reactions on a large scale? Bad chain reactions. We don’t like bad chain reactions.
